Union Market
Union Market is an indoor food hall in northeast DC with local vendors and restaurants under one roof. Less polished than a lot of market redevelopments, which works in its favor.
What's inside
About 40 vendors, rotating somewhat year to year. The fishmonger and cheese counter are the most consistent draws, and a couple of breakfast spots draw lines on weekends. The coffee is better than average. There's a shared seating area in the middle that works for a longer meal.
The weekend market
Saturday and Sunday the outdoor area adds produce, vintage, and craft vendors. Quieter than Eastern Market and more accessible without the Capitol Hill parking situation.
Getting there
NoMa-Gallaudet Metro (Red Line) is about a 10-minute walk. Street parking on weekdays; weekends require some patience. The surrounding NoMa neighborhood is still developing, so the market is the main reason to come.
