Busboys and Poets
“Bookstore-café-restaurant on 14th St NW, large space with good wifi and no pressure to leave, weekday mornings are the working-friendly version”
Busboys and Poets

Busboys and Poets
A bookstore-café-restaurant on 14th Street NW that has been on this block for years. Worth knowing about if you need somewhere to work, read, or eat without being rushed out after an hour.
What it's like
The space is large, the lighting works for a laptop, and they don't time you out. Order something, set up, stay a few hours. Wifi is available and generally holds up. The menu covers breakfast through dinner: sandwiches, salads, grain bowls, decent coffee. None of it is remarkable, but it's reliable.
The bookstore part
The front section has a curated selection weighted toward social justice, history, and politics. Worth browsing even if you're not buying.
When to go
Weekday mornings are the working-friendly version. Evenings and weekends the restaurant side fills up and a quiet table gets harder to hold. Occasional live programming (readings, talks) is on their website. Multiple locations around DC, but the 14th Street original has more going on.
